Building the perfect golf swing: 1/4 swing

Before we can achieve the perfect full swing, we need to have a foundation to build on. We can look at the golf swing as having four levels: 1/4 swing, 1/2 swing, 3/4 swing, and the full swing. This video explains how to execute a correct 1/4 swing.

  1. Wow, Greg.  I came to this conclusion on my own, out of necessity, so it's wonderful to find this support from an instructor.  I have been taking lessons but have not been able to do the half or 3/4 quarter swing the instructor wants me to do – and still stay in balance consistently.  I knew until I could do a quarter swing in balance, no way was I going to do a half!  So I've been practicing the quarter swing, in perfect balance, over and over, and the consistency is starting to happen.  You are right, it aint easy when you have 30 years of compensations to overcome.  I also see it like the old saying:  you can't run until you can walk.

I look forward to watching more of your videos.  Thanks.

  2. Hi Greg. Thanks for the video. Great drill. I've done this drill off and on for a while and it does wonders for my swing when I'm on the practice range and sometimes when I'm playing ( practice swing ). My question is, from your teaching experience, how often and how much should you practice these drills until they become ingrained in your swing.

  3. Right after reading through these golf swing secrets “kaha shocking guide” (Google it), I used the tips at the driving range. After making a strong impact, I attained correct divots with my irons. I was hitting about 10-15 yards farther with my irons than I was used to. I strongly suggest the book to you!
