Keep Your Left Arm STRAIGHT In The Golf Swing

Should you keep the lead arm straight in your golf swing? It’s a question that gets asked a lot, in this video we discuss the benefits of doing it and what it will create in the swing. I also give you a drill that will help you create a straighter lead arm in the golf swing.

  1. I'm a beginner but this is the first thing I figured out day 1!! The number of people I see on the range bending the leading arm… Just corrections all the way down. Good video. Only thing I would add is do LOTS of left arm parallel half swings with straight arm before moving to a full swing

  2. great help Matt i was guilty of over swinging the club and losing structure in the back swing, a good reminder that we cant all have great flexabillity and should play to our own particular limits ! Thanks.

  3. Having a bent left arm during the backswing, doesn't seem to have hindered Jordan Speith's career much. Conclusion, having a straight left arm isn't that important.

  4. Just watched the LPGA PGA at Hazelton. On the range, I did not see one player who bent their lead arm. I have a straight arm brace I use in front of a mirror. The brace helps me make a full shoulder turn without bending my lead arm. You will have much more confidence and consistency hitting off tight fairways where contact needs to be precise. It is actually exhilarating feeling your lead arm is in control.
